August updates: ratings, notes, and discovery

Since our late-May look at collections and series browse, August has been about making Episode Atlas feel more personal. Here is what is new for fans who track, rate, and wander through Trek.

Rate episodes and keep private notes

Marking an episode watched is still one tap. Now you can go further on the episode page: give it a personal rating, and leave a short note only you can see — a reminder why a holodeck story clicked, or which guest star made a rewatch worthwhile.

Notes and ratings stay with your account. They are not published as a public feed, so you can be as opinionated as you like without broadcasting every thought to the fleet.

On This Day

Wondering what aired on this date across Star Trek history? Open On This Day for a calendar-style path into the catalogue. It is a gentle way to rediscover classics you have not thought about in years — or to find something new that premiered on a day like today.

A home for every series

There is now a clear starting point at /series: every show in one place, then drill into seasons and episode grids as before. If you like working franchise-by-franchise rather than scrolling the full catalogue, this is the front door.

Follow the rabbit hole on episode pages

Episode pages now surface related picks — nearby stories, themed neighbours, and other ways to keep watching once you have finished the one you opened. Think of it as a soft nudge toward the next rabbit hole, without spoiling anything you have not chosen to open yet.

The home page shows the fleet is busy

The home page now includes a community section with live, anonymised numbers — how active tracking has been, and a glimpse of what people are watching — so you can see Episode Atlas is a living catalogue, not a static list. No personal details are shown; just shared activity that anyone can browse.

Staying in touch, on your terms

If you keep a visit streak going, you may see a gentle prompt about email updates — easy to accept, easy to skip, and always controllable from your email preferences.

Privacy and terms, in plain language

New Privacy and Terms pages explain what Episode Atlas stores, what stays private, and what is public when you choose to share a profile or Top 5 list. Links sit in the site footer so you can read them whenever you like.

Smaller polish

• A clearer sign-in flow when you want to start tracking mid-browse.
• Refreshed rating controls on episode pages so scoring a favourite feels quick and obvious.
• Assorted fixes for trending, profiles, and mobile browsing so daily use stays smooth.
